Peter Griffin’s Car Panini from Family Guy

Prior to making the Peter Griffin Car Panini, I realize that I didn’t actually own a panini press. Much like when I made Homer’s Patented Space-Age Out of This World Moon Waffles, I was off to the local thrift store to find the cheapest possible appliance I could. Imagine my extreme delight when I discovered the Hello Kitty panini press for only $5!

As far as I could tell, this panini press had never been used – there wasn’t a single scratch on it. I suspect it was maybe purchased as a novelty item? Therefore, I was a little concerned that it wouldn’t actually work. That meant I needed to take it for a test panini, which sadly did not allow me to travel back in time (or travel into a non sequitur aside involving pirates or greased up people). But at least now I knew the Hello Kitty panini press actually worked!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices white bread
  • 3 hot dogs
  • 4 peanut butter cups
  • Doritos
  • 1 Cadbury egg

Directions

Place down two pieces of white bread and stack hot dogs onto one side. Next, stack peanut butter cups on top of the hot dogs, followed by crumbled Doritos. Finish the panini with a cracked Cadbury egg.

Place a second slice of bread on top of everything. Leave sandwich in the panini press for several minutes until bread is browned and the chocolate is melted.

The Car Panini might sound delicious in theory, but in practice it’s mostly just ok. Everything got eaten, but I wouldn’t say it was an enjoyable meal. I think the issue was including both the peanut butter cups and the cream egg, which is a little too much chocolate to compete with the hot dogs and Doritos. I actually got one bite with just hot dogs and Doritos (no chocolate) and that actually tasted pretty good. So there’s a sandwich recipe if you’re looking for an exciting new lunch idea…

Of course, there are a lot more potential recipes to make from this episode. After Peter opens up his food truck he sells:

  • Hamburgers where the buns is jelly donuts
  • Drinks where hot dog is the straw
  • A bowl of cereal that’s M&M’s and Dr.Pepper
  • Swedish fish tacos

I’m a little concerned about making these as I might not be able to escape the house after eating them. But perhaps that’s just a risk I should be willing to make?

More family guy recipes!

Bruce Gruy

make sure to order a pizza so they can put the salad right on top and delivered to you nice and warm.

Try the white material in there but do away with the brown layer

Well that’s one heck of a find for your thrift store. And the sandwich could be worse, I mean it’s no Grilled Charlie. But why would you be concerned about not being able to escape the house after eating those recipes? Though if you were actually able to finish a bowl of Dr. Pepper M&M’s I’d be amazed and concerned for your health.

I think I saw Binging with Babish try this once on his YouTube channel, but is just makes me want to try it even more 😁

Resigning yourself to a fate where you’d have to wash yourself with a rag on a stick or needing a prying bar to get out of your hammock. That would be bad. And your idea for substitution is not reassuring me in the least…
