Tweek and Craig’s relationship is one of my favorite “newer” plot points to come out of South Park. I enjoy that they compliment each other so well as a couple. With Craig’s suggestion that Tweek bake helping to provide a calming effect for his overly caffeinated partner. In this episode, Put It Down, Tweek’s cupcakes stem from his anxiety over the current geopolitical situation. And so he sends those yummy, yummy cupcakes to North Korea:
Of course, these days everything is just fine and so baking at home is not as popular an activity, what with all the sporting events and concerts and festivals we can all attend…
When Tweek is making his cupcakes, we can see the following ingredients strewn around his kitchen: flour, milk, eggs. I think it’s far to assume that there is also coffee somewhere close by, but it isn’t an ingredient in the cupcakes. Most likely, it’s just for Tweek to drink. Because he likes coffee. Basically, these appear to be simple vanilla cupcakes, with vanilla frosting, topped with red sprinkles.
Ingredients
Vanilla Cupcakes
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup cup butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
Vanilla Frosting
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons milk
Directions
Vanilla Cupcakes
Preheat oven to 350F. Line your cupcake pan with paper liners. Combine dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sugar). Next, combine melted, cooled butter with milk, vanilla extract and eggs. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients in a stand mixer. Mix all ingredients until combined. Fill cupcake lines about halfway each with batter and bake for about 15 minutes. Allow to fully cool before frosting on a wire rack before frosting.
Vanilla Frosting
Make sure butter is room temperature. Combine butter and powdered sugar in a stand mixer and combine until smooth. Add vanilla extract and milk. If the frosting is too runny, add more powdered sugar, if it’s too thick add more milk. After applying frosting, top with red sprinkles.
As mentioned above, these are basic vanilla cupcakes, no fuss no muss. However, sometimes the simplest things are the most delicious. Both because they taste good and because they don’t require a ton of effort to make. No sourdough starter required here! So if things are a little stressful for you right now (as they were for me) I encourage you to put the phone down and step away from the internet for a moment. And maybe eat something with sprinkles on it, because why not?
