I always strive to make my recipes as close to the show Simpsons as possible. That’s pretty much the whole point of this thing. But sometimes geography gets in the way. And by that I mean that Hi-C basically doesn’t exist where I live, which is why this recipe is considered “Hi-C” and Fluffernutters. Instead of Hi-C I used Kool-Aid. I KNOW it’s not the same thing, but it’s a sugary orange beverage that has no nutritional value whatsoever. So, I’m going to stick to the unofficially Eats Like A Duck philosophy and say “good enough” and sleep soundly tonight.
Ingredients
- Hi-C* (aka Orange Kool-Aid)
- Marshmallow Fluff
- Peanut Butter
- Bread
Directions
Spread marshmallow fluff on one piece of bread, spread peanut butter on the other piece of bread.
Combine bread pieces to form a sandwich. Serve with Hi-C*.
Flufflernutters are something I had never heard of before The Simpsons. They are basically a slightly less healthy version of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I mean, jelly/jam is likely just as high in sugar as marshmallow fluff, but it’s probably got some vitamins or something. Marshmallow fluff just has corn syrup.
This sandwich was tasty enough, but combined with the Hi-C* made for an overly sweet snack. This is not something that I would serve to a first time visiting guests. Marge’s Happy-Cracker Snack Platter seems more appropriate, but what do I know?

Hi-C and Fluffernutters Recipe From: Homer’s Phobia (The Simpsons Season 8 – Episode 15)
I hadn’t even heard of the concept of marshmallow fluff before the simpsons. I bought a jar from overseas and it had a “recipe” for fluffernutter on the back. I don’t think it’s something I’d want regularly though.
Combine that with full sugar Hi-C and you have a recipe for diabetes.
Fluffernutters are a New England thing.
Speaking of regional things, Steamed Hams.
Oh, not in Utica, no. It’s an Albany expression.
You know these steamed hams are quite similar to the ones they have at Krusty Burger.
